Open Positions

Community Work Incentive Coordinator: Remote - Full Time

Starting Hourly Wage Range: $21.63-$26.44

CWIC or CPWIC needed to counsel beneficiaries about effect of employment on their SSA benefits, public and private health insurance and other federal, state, and/or local benefits. This includes, but is not limited to:

●      Responding to requests for WIPA services using prescribed protocols

●      Conducting intake interviews with beneficiaries to gather all information necessary to provide comprehensive and accurate individualized benefits counseling

●      Developing individualized reports to document counseling information, using SSA report writing software

●      Assisting beneficiaries with utilizing work incentives and resolving any problems related to benefits

●      Identifying barriers to employment and making referrals to services and supports based on their needs

●      Collecting and recording service data, and protecting the confidentiality and security of beneficiary information, using prescribed protocols

Required Qualifications:

●      Currently certified as a CWIC or CPWIC, or ability to complete trainings required by Social Security and obtain certification within 6-9 months

●      Ability to obtain a federal Tier2 suitability clearance within 6-9 months

●      Bachelor's Degree; relevant experience may be substituted

Preferred Skills & Experience:

●      Professional work or personal experience with individuals that have disabilities

●      Knowledge of disability rights, disability service system, and benefits utilized by people with disabilities

●      Effective verbal and written communication skills, including explaining complex rules and technical concepts

●      Proficient in operating computer databases and software, including Microsoft Word, databases, and case management systems

Join our Board of Directors or PAIMI Advisory Council

The Missouri Protection and Advocacy Services (Mo P&A) Board of Directors is the governing body of the organization. Mo P&A cannot function either legally or practically without knowledgeable, hardworking, and enthusiastic Board of Directors.

Council members are active participants in the success of Mo P&A’s PAIMI program to ensure services meet the needs of people receiving mental health services.

Please make sure you understand the expectations of being a Board or Council member before you start the nomination process to join our Board of Directors or PAIMI Advisory Council.


What does the Board of Directors do?

Regular activities of Board members include:

  • Participating in policy-making

  • Monitoring activities of Executive Management to carry out policies and program goals

  • Representing Mo P&A in the community when appropriate

  • Using personal and professional contacts when possible to gain or improve community support

What are the benefits of being a Board member?

Board members are active participants in the success of Mo P&A’s mission. Board members have the opportunity to:

  • Develop new skills

  • Interact with a variety of interesting people

  • Learn more about the disability field

  • Gain experience in leadership and management

  • Contribute to the well-being of the disability community in Missouri

These benefits often transfer to Board members’ personal and career life.

Who can become a Board member?

Board members must be interested in the mission, programs, and goals of Missouri Protection and Advocacy Services. They must also be able to volunteer their available time to regular Board activities.

Members should be experienced in at least one of the following areas:

  • Business Management

  • Finance

  • Personnel

  • Law

  • Advocacy

  • Program Development

  • Evaluation

  • Public Relations

Board members cannot be employed by any agency that provides treatment or services, other than advocacy services, to people with disabilities.

How much time should Board members commit?

Members serve on the Board of Directors for three years. Board members should attend all regularly scheduled meetings.

The Board of Directors usually meets four times per year, on a Tuesday for about four hours. Meetings take place in mid-Missouri or via web conference.

Board members should allow for about two hours of preparation time for each meeting.

Members who accept a leadership position on the Board must commit more time to Board activities if required.


What does the PAIMI Advisory Council do?

The Council provides advice, observations, and recommendations to Mo P&A’s Board of Directors and staff.

This advice helps Mo P&A determine the goals, policies, evaluations, annual plans, and reports for our PAIMI program.

The Board of Directors sets the policies and goals, with consideration to the Council’s recommendations. The Executive Director handles the related administrative responsibilities.

What are the benefits being a Council member?

Council members help make sure PAIMI program services meet the needs of people receiving mental health services and their families, and the community.

Members are also a vital link to the mental health community and other organizations. They will be able to share their experiences and other information to further the mission of the goals of the PAIMI program.

Who can become a Council member?

Members must be interested in the mission and goals of the PAIMI program. They must also be able to volunteer their available time to regular Council activities.

Council members must also be at least one of the following:

  • Attorney

  • Mental Health Professional

  • Individual who received or is currently receiving mental health services

  • Family member of someone who received or is currently receiving mental health services

  • Individual from the public who is knowledgeable about mental illness
