Who We Are

Mission Statement

Our mission is to protect the rights of people with disabilities by providing advocacy and legal services.

About Us

Missouri Protection and Advocacy Services (Mo P&A) is a non-profit, public interest law firm. Mo P&A was established in 1977 to address public outcry over the abuse and neglect of people with disabilities living in institutions.

We are designated by the Missouri Governor as the federally mandated Protection and Advocacy (P&A) System for Missouri. P&A Systems protect the rights of people with disabilities through legal-based advocacy.

Mo P&A is a member of the National Disability Rights Network (NDRN).

Funding Sources

We receive federal funding to provide these services and achieve our mission. Because this funding is limited, our Board of Directors meets each year to decide what our goals will be. The Board makes these decisions based on what they believe Mo P&A can achieve with these limited resources.
